The walk through the lanes of Shahpur Jat was a wonderful experience. The old and the new co-exist in this part of the city. One moment we were walking past an old haveli and the next there was a sparkling boutique right next to us. Walking through the ruins of Siri Fort felt like stepping back in history.
About - Shahpur Jat
Siri Fort was the third city of Delhi. It was built at the beginning of the 14th century by Alauddin Khilji. Later after the fort was abandoned, the Jats from Haryana settled on these fertile lands and the neighborhood came to be called as Shahpur Jat. Old havelis and designer boutiques co-exist here with the area only second in choice for artisans and young entrepreneurs. A number of well known restaurants and delicatessens dot the area. Shahpur Jat is currently undergoing urban greening and rejuvenation.
