The Chandrakhani Pass Trek took us through some beautiful stretches of the Himalayas. The mist swirling Chandrakhani Pass commands spell-binding views of the the surrounding Dhauladhars and the lush Malana valley below.
At 3650 m, the Chandrakhani Pass straddles the Dhauladhars and connects the Beas River valley to the Parvati River valley. Though the trek is marked moderate, there are challenging sections enroute the pass. The scenery is picturesque all along the way-- dense coniferous forests give way to rolling pastures and alpine meadows. One can chance upon shepherds herding their animals and small flocks of bharals grazing on the hillside. The horizon is manned by the stupendous Pir Panjal and Dhauladhars, whose snowy tops glisten exuberantly against azure skies.
