The weekend at Jhaltola was relaxing and peaceful to say the least. We enjoyed the short hikes to Lamkeshwar and Pokhar and spotted a number of birds like the flycatcher, Hill Partridge, Oriental Turtle and Spotted Doves, Himalayan Griffons, Black Eagle, Oriental Honey Buzzard, Black Headed Jays, Grey Bush Chats, Russet Sparrows, Blue Winged Siva, pheasants etc. The rappelling and zip-lining were thrilling. The trip had a wonderful balance of activities and leisure. The hosts were extremely warm.
Located in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, Jhaltola is hidden behind acres of unspoilt forests and offers you a holiday off the beaten track. Stunning snow capped peaks, with dollops of white clouds perched on the slopes, shimmer against blue skies. The region has a rich bird population with over 120 species and sub-species. The area has not yet seen droves of tourists. You'll be staying in a refurbished estate on what used to be a tea plantation- and you can enjoy a supremely peaceful break.
