Kanatal took our breath away! This little visited village is the quintessence of slow living- the fresh air and the spectacular natural beauty soothed our tired nerves. We went on long hikes around the village. The picnic in the Kodia forest was delightful.
38 km ahead of Mussoorie lies the little known village of Kanatal. Once the site of a lake that has now dried up, the village derives its name from the word kana that means sukha (dry) and tal that means lake. Enjoy the slow pace of life here: the first flush of sunrays on the mist-shawled mountains, unexplored pockets of pine and deodar trees, scarlet rhododendrons in sharp contrast to the greenery around; nature is at her best here. Trek through apple orchards, enjoy picnics besides gurgling streams, share stories with the locals or simply lie on your back and let the beauty mesmerize you.
