Rishikesh has always been one of our favorite destinations. Rafting on the Ganges was thrilling. The current was swift and we splashed and tumbled! From the Kunjapuri temple, the sunset was nothing short of bewitching. The trek was easy and the long stretches through deodar forests were beautifully calming.
Considered the Yoga Capital of the World, the temple town of Rishikesh scores high when it comes to adventure tourism, most of which focuses on the turbulent rapids of the Ganges here. Grade III & IV rapids are popular with rafting enthusiasts. Apart from that, thrill-seekers can indulge in hiking, trekking, backpacking, rock-climbing, rappelling and kayaking. Rishikesh also holds the distinction in being the site of the country's highest fixed platform Bungee Jump. The mountains surrounding the town are densely wooded and provides excellent opportunities for mountain biking. At dawn and dusk, the otherwise sleepy town comes alive with the ringing of bells and the Ganga aarti is performed. Watching the devotees burn oil lamps and incense smoke on the ghats is spectacular.
