Imagine spending a night in a National Park, with tigers and other wild animals prowling close by in the dark. Doesn't that sound exciting? We loved the walking safari through the still forest, the only sound being the crunch of leaves underneath and the occasional cry of a bird or some wild animal. The slow canoe ride through the backwaters is a long romantic experience and will be a memory to keep.
About - Satpura National Park
Satpura National Park is probably the only national park in India that allows walking safaris, canoe rides and bicycle rides in the buffer zone of a national park. It is home to tigers, leopards, sambar, chital, Indian muntjac, nilgai, four-horned antelope, chinkara, Gaur, wild boar, wild dog, bear, black buck, fox, porcupine, flying squirrel, mouse deer, Indian giant squirrel, and numerous species of birds. It is inhabited by the Korku and Gond tribes. History dating back to 500AD comes alive in the now-abandoned rock shelters of Churna as sunrays catch the painting on the yellow ochre walls. Not only the wildlife, the rugged terrain of this national park comprising sandstone peaks, narrow gorges, meandering streams, ravines, waterfalls and dense forests is also very enticing.
